Bay Window Bed
The back deck started to rot away, so the summer of 2006, we removed the west part of it.  In doing so, we exposed the old cistern that was filed in with dirt and rubble.

In this area we added compost and in the spring of 2007 added some landscape plants.

The Cistern
Cisterns were commonly used near old farm houses in Blair. Rain water was collection from the roof and channeled in to a pit in the earth carefully lines with brick.  This water was used primarily for garden irrigation, and washing.
