Stump Patio
Create a unique setting that transforms a space in to a "living room."

The stump patio is made of 4-inch slices of yellow locus tree limbs varying between 5 to 8-inches around.  There were set directly into the ground level with the concert driveway, and filled in with dirt. (Installed fall 2005)

To finish the area, a custom made "log bench" sets on the patio providing a shady place for garden breaks or a rest stop for our neighbors.  We call it our "Neighbor's Bench."

Just weeks after installing our stump patio, we saw the same idea at Arbor Day Farms in Nebraska City.  They paved an area in the kids activates area and used a special plastic/cement grout making a very nice level surface.
