Rev. A. F. Boese (1961)
 
Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church -- Bethune, Colorado

Memorial services for the Rev. A. F. Boese, pastor of the Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Bethune, were conducted Monday, Dec. 4, at the Immanuel Church. The Rev. Walter Rath, First St. Paul Lutheran of Burlington, and the Rev. Elmer Beckman of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Goodland, were in charge of the services.
The Rev. Boese passed away at the Memorial Hospital in Burlington about 12:08 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 (1961), following several severe strokes.

Frederic August Boese was born May 24, 1896, at Holloway, Minn., the youngest son of Ferdinand and Wilhelmena Boese. He grew to manhood in that community, was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and attended public schools at Holloway. He was graduated from St. Paul Luther College and Seminary in 1922.
He was ordained into the ministry Aug. 20 of that year and began his ministry at Madison, S. D. Other parishes he served were at Lakata, Iowa, and Waltham and Harmany-Granger, Minn.

On June 22, 1823, he was married to Miss Irene Keuhn at Augusta, Wis. They moved to Bethune in 1955 because of his wife's health and served as pastor there and did supply work in Burlington until his death on Dec. 2.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife; seven children, Henry Boese of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Margaret Sikkink of Harmony, Minn., Mrs. Ardis Suhroke at Sheboygan Falls, Wis., Arnold Boese of Janesville, Minn., Robert Boese of San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Frances Israel of Hendersonville, N. C., and Mrs. Naomi Johnson of Milwaukee, Wis,; 19 grandchildren; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; and many relatives and friends.

Honorary pallbearers were the pastors of the Tri-State Conference. Pallbearers were Paul Stolz, William Knamer, William Ziegler, Max Kramer, Howard Homm and David Guy.

Final services and interment were held at the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church of Granger, Minn., on Dec. 6, 1961, with the Rev. Robert Taylor officiating. Pallbearers there were Robert Vagts, Harry Bigalk, Carl Mandelke, Emil Kiehne, Willard Harmon and Leonard Runge.
