Walter Jacob Stahlecker of Arvada,
departed this life On Tuesday, March 31, 1998 at his home. He was
born to Edward and Margaret (Weisshaar) Stahlecker July 12, 1918, at Bethune.
He was baptized at an early age and confirmed on May 14, 1933, at Immanuel
Lutheran Church of Bethune.
He attended school through the
eighth grade at a country school in the settlement north of Bethune.
In the early 1940s he was employed
at an aircraft plant in California as a test pilot. After the war
he returned to Colorado and worked in the oil fields at Fort Morgan, then
he moved to Denver where he worked at the Gates Rubber Co. and a short
time for the Lueck Construction Co.
In 1956 he began working for Associated
Grocery. He retired in 1984 after 28 years with the company.
He loved music and gardening and
in his played several string instruments, especially the guitar.
He was married to Velma Miles on
Feb. 3, 1951. She preceded him in death in July 1968.
Also preceding him in death were
his parents and two brothers, Edgar and Martin.
He was married to Margaret Bulmer
Dec. 29, 1968.
He leaves to mourn his wife Margaret;
stepchildren Lynn Bulmer and wife Barbara of Golden, Coleen Yeodon of Rodchester,
Minn.; five step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren, four
sisters, Lenora Weiss, Irma Chubbuck and husband Ray, Wilma Maddox and
husband Glenn of Burlington and Helen Gates and husband Ray of Warrenton,
Ore.; one aunt, Frieda Weisshaar, two sisters-in-law; a host of nieces
and nephews, cousins and friends.
Horan and McConaty Mortuary were
in charge of arrangements. A memorial service is pending in Denver. |
