Jacob Hasart  --  1976

    Jacob Christian Hasart, youngest son of Jacob and Magdalena Hasart, was born at Idalia Dec. 21, 1897.  In 1904 the family moved to a farm near Fall River, Kan., where Jacob grew and attended school.  Thirteen years later, in 1917, he moved back to Colorado to the farm northeast of Stratton.  April 27, 1927, he was united in marriage to Nettie Adolf; to their union three children were born.
 
    In the summer of 1954 they moved to Burlington where he resided until his death.  Jacob was baptized as an infant.  He was confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church north of Bethune and then transferred his membership to First St. -Pauls Lutheran Church in Burlington where he was a loyal and active member of the congregation.  Jacob was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Tobias and one infant son, Jerold Lee.
 
    Survivors include his wife Nettie; one son, Jim and his wife Marlyn; one daughter, Virginia Corliss and husband Lowell; grandchildren, Vickie Corliss Schlepp and husband Clinton;  Jerold G. Hasart, Lester J. Hasart and Russell L. Corliss; one great granddaughter, Peggy Sue Schlepp; a sister, Lena Kirby of Great Falls, Mont.; and one brother, John F. Hasart of Stratton.  Jake passed away April 25 in Burlington at the age of 78 years, 4 month and 4 days.
 
     Funeral services for Mr. Hasart were held Thursday, April 29, at First St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Burlington with Rev.  Keith Hedstrom officiating.
 
    Musical selections, "How Great Thou Art" and "Just As I Am," were sung by the church quartet while the congregation sang "Oh, Take My Hand Dear Father."  Casket bearers were Jr. Weisshaar, V. L. Mitchem, Ralph Adolf, George Wiedman, Carl Adolf Jr. and Norman Meyer.  Honorary casket bearers were Herb Hasenhauer, Perry Wilson, Irvin Wolf, Fred Hilt, Carl Arends, Sherman Corliss, Jake Weisshaar and A. W. Adolf.
 
    Interment was made in Fairview Cemetery.
