Emanuel Adolf   --  1988

        Funeral services for Emanuel Andrew Adolf of 213 Hamilton were conducted at 10 am Monday at the First English Lutheran Church, the Rev. Lohn Johnson officiating.  Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Sterling.
        Mr. Adolf, 79, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 1988, at Sterling Regional MedCenter.  He was born May 8, 1909 in Bethune, the son of Andrew and Margaret Schlichenmayer Adolf, raised and educated in Bethune.  He married Regina Runge, Oct. 10, 1949, in Burlington and the couple farmed in the Bethune area until moving to Burlington in 1951 where Mr. Adolf opened a shoe repair shop.  The couple came to Sterling in 1962 and opened Adolf's Shoe Shop.  He retired in 1982   Mr. Adolf was a member of the First English Lutheran Church.
        He is survived by his wife, Regina Adolf of Sterling; two sons, Alvin O. Adolf of Sterling and Orvin L. Adolf of Eaton, a daughter, Nelda McCoy of Herlong, Calif.; two brothers, Jake Adolf and Dave Adolf; two sisters, Frieda Gramm and Martha Weiss and five grandchildren.
        Music was Rock of Ages, Jesus Lead Thou On, and Jesus Lives, The Victory Is Won.  Casket bearers were Alvin Adolf, Allen Adolf, Wayne Runge, Orvin Adolf, Dennis McCoy and Marvin Gaines.
