Arthur C. Dobler (1966)

Arthur C. Dobler, 62, owner-operator of Dobler's Automotive Repair Service at York for 22 years, died Thursday evening at York General Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born May 28, 1904, in Denver, Colo., the son of Chris and Sophie Dobler, he attended school at Lake Charles, La. 

In 1921 he moved to Nebraska. On March 16, 1930, he was married to Marjorie Reed at Farmers Valley.  The couple moved to York in January 1936.  In 1943 Mr. Dobler started his automotive repair service.  In April 1965 ill health forced his retirement.

Dobler was an active Methodist Church board member.  he was a past master of the Masonic Lodge, member of Knights Templar, Royal Arch and Eastern Star, and of Toastmasters International and Lions International at York.

Surviving besides his widow are two sons, Ronald of Sacramento, Calif., and Leland, U.S. Navy, now serving in Vietnam; six grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Vera Strobel, Lodi, Calif.  Mrs. Maude Jackson of York is an aunt. F.J. Grosshans, and uncle, lives at Aurora. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, who died in infancy.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Methodist Church in York with the Rev. Frank Kirtley officiating.  Burial will be Greenwood Cemetery.  The casket will not be opened following the service.  The body is at the York Memorial Chapel.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Research and the Methodist Church Building Fund, at the suggestion of the family.
