Funeral services for Richard D.
Bauer, a former Nucla and Norwood resident, were Thursday, Feb. 19 in the
Naturita Trinity Baptist Church. The Rev. Claude H. Fox Jr.
officiated. Bauer was killed in a mine accident Saturday, Feb 14, at
Deadwood, S. D. Born Jan. 15, 1938, Bauer spent his early childhood in
Norwood and Montrose. He graduated from Montrose High School.
Bauer was a member of the National Guard in Montrose.
On Nov. 20, 1956, married Lois Ann Estes. The two lived in Nucla and then
moved to Troy, Mont. and later to Deadwood. S.D.
He is survived by this wife, his mother, Mildred Bauer
of Delta, and son, Jack Bauer and three daughters, Carolyn, Sheila and
Jody. All of the children live at the family home in Deadwood.
Bauer's father, Jack August Bauer, preceded him in death. He is survived by two
brothers, George Bauer of Nucla and Dale Bauer of Deadwood, and five sisters,
Fern Sadberry [sic] (Sedberry) of Delta, Wilma Fay of Delta, Carolyn Harris of Grand Junction,
Hazel Hyde of Helper, Utah and Betty Mosher of Thompson Falls, Mont. Burial will
be in Norwood Cemetery. Martin's Mortuary of Grand Junction is in charge of arrangements. |
