The family moved south of Bethune in 1946 and he attended Bethune schools, graduating with the Class of 1952. The class has remained in close contact throughout their lives. Bob married his childhood sweetheart and classmate, Esther Arlene Richards, in Roy, N.M., that summer. The couple celebrated 50 years of marriage last July 9. He bowled for over 30 years, attending many state tournaments and also enjoyed 17 years of square dancing with the Wagon Wheelers, hosting many of the events in their garage. As members of that group, the couple traveled around the globe: Switzerland in '81, Ireland in '84, Great Britain in '86, New Zealand and Australia in '86, and in '92 they went on their own to tour Germany.
