John Richards-1959

John Richards, 69, a resident of Kit Carson county all of his life, passed away suddenly Friday, Jan 2, a heart attack being blamed for his death. He was stricken while at his home and was dead upon arrival at the Memorial hospital in Burlington.

Born in the Tuttle community, Mr. Richards later moved to a farm about 20 miles north west of Burlington, where the family lived for many years.

John Arthur Richards was born July 5, 1889, at Tuttle north of Stratton. Here he grew up to manhood. In 1910 he married Mayme Ann Anderson and this union was blessed with five children. Having lived in the community all this lifetime he settled on a farm north of Burlington. It was here that in the year 1957 the deceased and his wife received instruction in the Christian doctrine and were taken into membership of Immanuel's church thru the sacrament of holy baptism. He remained a faithful member until his death Friday, Jan. 2.

He leaves to mourn his sudden departure his grief stricken widow; two daughters. Mrs. H L. Powell of Springer, N.M., Mrs. Howard Homm of Burlington; three sons, David, #1498 of Bethune, Harry of Burlington and Robert of Denver; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Morrissey of Garden City Kan., Mrs. Sarah Ohlmutz of Burlington, Iowa, and Mrs. Ruth Andrews of Burlington; one brother, Dr. H.S. Richards of St. Louis, Mo., 18 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a large circle of friends and acquaintances. He reached the age of 90 years, 5 months and 28 days.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Immanuel Lutheran church, with Rev. A.F. Boese officiating. Burial was in the Settlement cemetery.  ?????
