Daryn G.
Klassen, 43, of Brighton and formerly of Loveland died March 22, 2003, in
Brighton. He was born Sept. 17, 1959, in Great Falls, Mont., to
Daryle and Thais Marlene Griffin Klassen. He graduated from Thompson Valley High
School in 1977. He received a bachelor of science degree in business
administration from Colorado State University in 1988.
He married Nadine Corliss on July 7, 1990,
in Bethune. Mr. Klassen owned and operated Brighton Electronics Center. His
greatest love as a child was the Boy Scouts. He achieved Eagle Scout in 1976 and
earned the Order of the Arrow and its Brotherhood. He was a Scoutmaster for many
years while his son was in Scouts in Greeley. He also wrestled in high school,
and this led to a membership in the Colorado Wrestling Officials Association. He
was a past president and received an honorary lifetime membership award, awarded
to only 30 people in Colorado.
At the age of 15, he received his Federal
Communications Commission license and worked for his parents at KLOV Radio. He
was responsible for broadcasting the events of the Big Thompson flood in 1976.
He was a past president of Delta Epsilon, collegiate DECA, and supported the
Brighton DECA. He was instrumental in starting a Better Business Group for Radio
Shack franchise ownership in Colorado and New Mexico. He was a member of
Zion Congregational Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine Klassen of Brighton;
a son, Jon Klassen of Brighton; two daughters, Kaylee Klassen of Brighton and
Dawn Hamilton of Wichita, Kan.; his parents, Daryle and Marlene Klassen of
Loveland; parents-in-law Mervin and Esther Corliss of Stratton; grandmothers
Kathryn Klassen of Hillsboro, Kan., and Peg Griffin of Wichita; sister-in-law
Dawna Klassen of Loveland; and a nephew and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Pete Klassen, in
1995. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, at Hope
Congregational Cemetery in Bethune. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday
at Zion Congregational Church in Brighton. Memorial contributions may be made to
the Daryn Klassen Memorial Fund in care of Wells Fargo Bank, 75 S. Main St.,
Brighton, 80601. Arrangements were handled by Tabor Funeral Home,
