Jakobine Weiss Stahlecker  --  1963

    Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Stahlecker, 79, who died July, 18, at the Memorial Hospital, were held Saturday, July 20, at the Hendricks chapel at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Walter Rath of the First St. Paul's American Lutheran Church officiating. Pallbearers were William Stolz, Lee Weisshaar, Ruben Ziegler, David Weiss, Herman Adolf and Carl Adolf.  Burial in Fairview Cemetery.

    Mrs. Fred Stahlecker was born Jakobine Weiss on Sept. 11, 1883, in Artzies, South Russia, the daughter of Carl and Catherine Weiss. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church there.  She came to the United States in the spring of 1902 and was married to Fred at the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Yale, now Bethune.  Five children were born to this union.

    In November, 1951 they moved to Burlington after living most of their married life on the farm in the Settlement, except for short periods of time when they lived in Loveland and in Oregon.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, one brother and three grandchildren. Survivors include two ,daughters, Hulda Ziegler of Burlington and Amanda Berendt of Englewood; three sons, Emil of Vallejo, Calf., Robert of Burlington and Herbert of Evansville, Wyo.; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Zirnmerman of Loveland;  two brothers, Martin Weiss of Bethune and John Weiss of Imperial Beach, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
