Fredrick Stahlecker  --  1963

    Funeral services for Fredrick Stahlecker, 82, were held at the Hendricks Chapel Friday, April 19, with Rev.  W. H. Rath officiating.  Mr. Stahlecker passed away Tuesday morning, April 16, in Denver. Pallbearers were Ralph Stahlecker, Danny Weiss, Edgar Stahlecker, Albert Weiss, George Wiedman and Chris Kramer.  Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
    Fredrick Stahlecker was born May 9, 1880, at Scotland, S.D., to Martin and Katherine Stahlecker, and died April 19 at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 23 days.
    The family moved to Kit Carson County in 1893; arriving Oct. 22, and settling in the/Settlement area north of Bethune.  Fredrick was baptized in Scotland, S.D., and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the Lutheran Church of Yale.  He was united in marriage to Jakobine Weiss Aug 24, 1902, in the Lutheran Church of Yale.  While they lived in the Settlement area they were members of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.  Most of their married life was spent in this area, but they also lived short periods of time in Oregon and Loveland.
   Fredrick and his wife moved to Burlington Nov. 15, 1951, which remained their home until his death.  There they have been members of the First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters, one half-brother and three grand children.  Survivors include his wife, Jakobine; 2 daughters, Mrs. William (Hulda) Ziegler of Bethune and Mrs. Ray (Amanda) Berndt of Englewood 3 sons, Herbert of Evansville, Wyo., Emil of Vallejo, Calif., and Robert of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Barbara Adolf of Burlington and Lydia Weisshaar of Oregon.
