Andrew Bauer -1934 Mr. Andrew Bauer was born in "Old Alf" Russia, on Nov. 30, 1864, and came to the U. S. at the age of 25 years to North Dakota, and three was married in 1893 to Katharine Stahlecker and in the same year came to Bethune, Colo. Five children were born to this union, one dying in infancy. His wife died in 1901. In 1903 he was married to Mrs., Beats Betcher Hayne and to this union six children were born. He was 69 years, 10 months and 1 day old when he died. He was in ill health for the last four years. Four weeks ago his condition became worse and last Friday he took seriously ill and his children were called. On September 29, he felt his end nearing and called for the pastor of Immanuel's Church to give him the Lord's Supper. In humble contrition he confessed his unworthiness and asked the Lord for pardon and grace. Upon receiving Holy communion he said that now he was feeling much better and felt at peace with his God. The following visit by the pastor found no change in his state and always found him willing to go home. He leaves to mourn, his widow, Mrs. Beata Bauer and fourteen children; Mrs. Wm. Adolf Jr., Martin Bauer, Mrs. David Schlichenmayer and Fred Bauer, all of Bethune; August Bauer of Norwood, Albert Bauer at home; Anna M Bauer of Kansas City; Mrs. Truman L. Hooker at home; Edward H. Bauer of Bethune and Theodore G. Bauer at home; and this step-children, Mrs. Mary Degerling of Bethune, Andrew Hayne of Twin City Falls, Idaho; Mrs. J. A. Mitchell of Kansas City and Fred Hayne of Spokane, Wash.; two brothers, Gottleib and Phillip Bauer, both at Torrington, Canada, and one sister, Mrs., Carline Boufering in Russia; nine grandchildren and two great grand-children. His remains were laid to rest on the cemetery of the Lutheran Church in the Settlement, north of Bethune, Oct. 5. The funeral service was conducted by the pastor, H. L. Woelber. The Call extends its deep sympathy to all who mourn his death. |
