Hazel Adolf -- 1987
Funeral services for
Hazel Adolf were held Saturday, March 7, at 2 pm, from the Akron Foursquare
Church with Pastor Mike Kinney officiating. Charlotte Sherman, pianist,
accompanied herself as she sang, "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace."
An eulogy given in her remembrance was said by her nephew, Tarry Cluff.
Serving as casket escorts
were Connie Dannar, Roy Fox, Alan Koger, Bill Dorrenbacher, Rich Elliott
and Mike Watson. Burial was in the Akron cemetery with Yeamans &
Gordon Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Hazel I. Adolf, 67, of Akron
passed away at St. Joseph Hospital, Denver, Wednesday, March 4, 1987.
She was born Nov. 20, 1919, at Millard, in southern Yuma County, the daughter
of John and Lillie (Morris) Thomas. She attended rural Millard School.
After World War II and Fred
W. Adolf had returned from the service, they were married at Goodland on
June 1, 1946. Before moving to Akron in the early 1960s, Fred and
Hazel worked for various farmers in Washington Country including the Walter
Alishouse family. Fred passed away Aug. 9, 1980.
Hazel was a member of the
Akron Foursquare Church to which she was dedicated. She was a kind
and loving person, always willing to give a helping hand to those in need.
Those left to mourn her
passing are her son, Stanley, and wife Melodie; two grandsons; her sisters,
Norma Ward of California, Helen Heberlein and Beulah, both of Akron, Neffie
Unruh of Denver, Marie Shephard of Greeley and Becky Dixon of Greeley and
their families; her brothers, Robert Thomas of Ft. Morgan, Walt Thomas
of Akron, Leland Thomas of Kersey and Kathy Thomas of Lakewood and their
families and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
A memorial to the Akron
Foursquare Church has been established in her remembrance.
