Mrs. Margaret Adolf -- 1952 Mrs. Margaret Adolf (nee) Schlichenmayer) was born at Birsula, Russia, Jan 22, 1880, the daughter of Jacob and Margaret Schlichenmayer. During her childhood, the family migrated to the United States, settling in this vicinity. On Feb. 12, 1899, she and Andrew Adolf were united in marriage in the Lutheran church, which remained their church home for a number years, from whence they transferred their membership to the Hope Congregational church, which was then the church affiliation of the deceased. From this union there were born 10 children -- seven sons and three daughters. One son died in infancy. Mrs. Adolf has been an invalid for over five years as the result of injuries sustained when she broke a hip. For several years she has lived in an aged persons' home in Burlington. Survivors include on brother, Dave Schlichenmayer of Bethune; one sister, Elizabeth Metcalf of Fort Collins; six sons: Jake Adolf of Sterling, William Adolf of Stratton, John S. Adolf of Bethune, Emmanuel Adolf of Burlington, and twin sons, Fred Adolf of Lindon and Dave Adolf of Idalia; three daughters, Carolina Galli, of Winona, Kan., Freda Gramm of Burlington, and Martha Weiss of Bethune. There are also 18 surviving grandchild and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Adolf had been ailing for more than five years and death was the result of infirmities of old age. The deceased was aged 72 years, 11 months and 11 days. She passed away quietly early Wednesday morning, Dec. 3, at the Kit Carson County Memorial hospital, where she had been taken about a month ago. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Johnson of the St. Pauls Lutheran church and Rev. Schafer of Hope Congregational church. Interment was in the Hope Congregational church cemetery Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Hendricks mortuary. |
