Edward Leopold Stahlecker   --  1939

Edward Leopold Stahlecker, son of John and Mary Stahlecker, was born on Nov. 22, 1912 at Bethune, Colo.  He was baptized by the Rev. Mr. Brunn and confirmed by the Rev. Mr. Blickensdaerfer.  In the public school he finished the 8th grade.  He had been suffering for some time with heart trouble.  When at home he was a willing assistant to his sick father and well beloved among his acquaintances.  Before leaving for the west with his brothers, he wished to partake of the Holy communion, which was granted to him in the fellowship of the church and his parents.  In a letter from his aunt to his parents it was learned that, while in Oregon, he used every opportunity to learn to know God more and to get in closer communion with Him.  He died at Hood River, Oregon, October 22, 1939, at the age of 26 years and 11 months.
The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery of the Congregational church, north of Bethune.  The bereaved are the aged parents, three brothers, Martin, Andrew and Walter; six sisters, Mrs. Henry Felt, Mrs. Christ Kremer, Mrs. John Adolph and Miss Dorothea Stahlecker; and many friends and relatives.
