Margaret SCHMIDKE Stahlecker-152
Wife of Chris Stahlecker-151
Obit of Chris states:
"he was married to Margaret Schmidke on Oct. 1, 1893. To this union were born four children, three preceding him in death. In 1896 they came to Colorado and later returned to South Dakota. The family again returned to Colorado, settling near Burlington, from where Chris carried mail for the Landsman district from 1899 until 1902.  On Nov. 17, 1901, his wife died.

It was remembered that about six years (1896) after the came, diphtheria struck heavily and many died. Wahls lost three children, Strobels lost one, August Adolf, Sr., lost one and others whose names cannot now be recalled.

Block #15
There is a marker in Block 15 that lists the following children of Gus & Amelia Adolf.

Clyde     Dec 11, 1915  - March 30, 2002
Leonard     Oct 30, 1921 - June 29, 1998
Julius     May 27, 1917 - May 27, 1917
Junior     Nov. 8 1928 - Nov 8 1928

Questions:
Why are Leonard and Julius not listing in the cemetery book?

When was this marker installed?  (I don't have any record of in from my 1992 survey of the cemetery -- only a stone cross with out any names..)

Was James Adolf (died June 2, 1917) who is also buried in Block 15 another son of Gus Adolf??

The dates for Junior Adolf on the stone in the cemetery are  Nov. 8 1928.
The dates for him in the cemetery book are Nov 9, 1929

Block #19
According to the cemetery book, Jacob Schlichenmayer (1873-1937) is buried in Space A1 of Block 19.
Just next to him is his mother Margaretha Schlichenmayer nee Kiensle (1852-1931) in Space A2 of Block 19.

It seems odd (and a bit confusing) that Mother and Son are buried next to each other. Maybe it's because the father, Jacob Schlichenmayer Sr. (1848-1900) was buried in the earlier single grave and there was not room for the mother.  Any thoughts?

The "Child of Andrew Adolf" (d. June 6,  1921) most likely is named Gotthilf.  This is based on information compiled from the obituary of his siblings.

Baby Stahlecker (child of Otto Stahlecker) is not listed in the index of the Cemetery Records.  The grave is listed on the Block 41 page in space A1.
Anna Dora Hasart, nee ADOLF --449

Anna Hasart is l
isted only in the index of the Immanuel Cemetery Records as being buried in Block 34, space A4.  She does not appear on the Bock 34 page.  If she were buried at Immanuel, it would be most logical that she might be buried in the same block as her parents August Adolf (block 31) or possible in Block 37 with the Hasart Family.

There is a grave marker at Fairview cemetery in Burlington, with her husband's name John HASART 1896-1986, his second wife's name Edith Mae Hasart 1906-1996 and her name -- Anna Dora Hasart 1900-1930.  So it appears that Anna Dora ADOLF Hasart would be buried in Burlington.  However, there might be a little hidden history here too.  Some oral history reports that Anna committed suicide by hanging herself sometime after her daughter Della HASART Pugh was born.  (Sometimes, these types of thinks cause a scandal in a community and lead to confused facts.)   It might be worth double check to see why there every was any sort of entry Anna in the Immanuel records.

John Knodel    -1320 (unmarked grave)
Father: Peter KNODEL
Mother: Christena DOBLER Knodel

John Knodel (child) is recorded as being buried in Block 1  Space A4, next to sisters Emma and Lydia.  The Immanuel Cemetery records state that John died Jan 19, 1904.  Is it more likely that he died in 1907.

In the obituary of his Mother, Christena DOBLER Knodel, it states that the three children died within a week period of scarlet fever.  This is also supported by the history of Gottleib and Christena KNODEL, recorded for the Kit Carson County History by Eva KNODEL Schaal.

I might suggestion noted this in the cemetery records.

Martin & Katherine Stahlecker
are buried in Lots A3 & A2

There are two known Christ Stahleckers
that this might refer to.

1)  Christoph (Chris) STAHLECKER -151
(father would have been age 50 when this child was born and that would be about 12 years after last known child was born.)  Therefore, this seems unlikely.  However, infant Rueben STAHLECKER-1286 (son of Chris) is buried directly next to the child in question.

2)  There was a young man named Chris Stahlecker who was a half brother to Arthur STAHLECKER-1281 -- according to Arthur's obit. The obit states that he preceded Arthur in death as a "young man."  This "young man" Chris would have been born between 1893 and 1899 in the Dakotas and might have come to Bethune when the family came to the area in 1896.  (In 1921 this "young man" would have been about 25-30 years old.)

3) Feb 8, 1921 Mary STUTZ Stahlecker-164, died in childbirth. The child's name Albert Emil STAHLECKER. Both mother and child are buried in Hope Cemetery.

There are several infant children of Christoph (Chris) STAHLECKER -151 with unaccounted graves that might be condsidered:

(mother Margaretha Schmidke)
   --  Matilda
   --  Emil

(mother Christena Scheterly)
  -- Hildergard
  -- Ila
  -- Walter
