Albert Carl Weiss, son of Gottfried and Mary Weiss, was born Jan 4, 1915, on his
parents' farm north of Bethune. He attended a country school north of Bethune
through the eighth grade. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed at the
Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bethune.
In September of 1940, he married Martha
Adolf. They had three children; Larry, Janice and Allan. Albert farmed and
raised livestock north of Bethune until he retired in 1980. He also did
carpenter work during his younger years.
He and Martha moved to their home in
Burlington in 1972 and lived there until the fall of 2000 when they moved to The
Legacy of Burlington. After living there 10 months, Albert moved to Grace Manor
Care Center of Burlington because of his declining health.
Albert was an active member of Immanuel
Lutheran Church, Bethune, until his health declined. He sand in the men's choir
and served on the building and grounds committee.
Albert enjoyed gardening after he and
Martha moved to town. He also enjoyed playing cards and visiting with his
friends.
Albert left this live on earth and began
his new life with Jesus on Monday, Aug. 27, 2001.
His infant daughter, Janice, his parents, two brothers and one sister preceded
Albert in death.
He is survived by his wife Martha, sons Larry and Wife Ruth of Marshalltown,
Iowa, Allan and wife Evelyn, of Bethune; eight grandchildren - Leslie and Scott
Jones of Kansas City, Mo., Nathan of Boston, Mass., Aaron and Sarah of Bethune;
one brother Reinhard of Burlington, three sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews,
cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Albert Carl Weiss were
held Friday, Aug 31, 2001, at 10 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in
Bethune. Paster Wesley Dunbar officiated. Burial followed in the Immanuel
Lutheran Cemetery.
