Dorene Kloeckner - 2002

Lifelong Burlington
resident Dorene P. Klockner passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at St.
Anthony's Central Hospital in Denver. She was 66. Dorene was born
Feb. 23 1936, north of Bethune on the family homestead. She was the
daughter of Walter H. and Pauline (Kramer) Kloeckner. Dorene
attended school in Burlington and Bethune. She was a member of the graduating
class of 1955 in Burlington.
For most of her life, Dorene worked at the
courthouse in Burlington. From 1955 to 1979 she worked as the deputy
assessor. From 1980 to 1982 she worked as the county clerk, and in 1983 to
1987, she moved back to the assessor's office.
Dorene was baptized at the Immanuel Lutheran
Church in Bethune, and was later confirmed at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
She was a member of the First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Burlington, where
she was a Sunday school superintended and teacher. She was also the church
secretary, and for a while she was the church custodian. Dorene was also a
member of the Business Women's Home Extension Unit, where she enjoyed spending
time with others to socialize and do crafts.
Preceding Dorene in death were her parents; one
brother Anton Kloeckner; and two nephews -- Chris and Kent Kloeckner.
Dorene is survived by her brother Alvin Kloeckner and wife Diane of Stratton;
two sisters -- Hildegarde Aeschlimann and husband Orvel of Burlington, and Vera
Stahlecker and her husband Walter of Colorado Springs. She is also
survived by 10 nieces and nephews and 2 step-nephews. She is also survived
by numerous great- and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Miss Kloeckner were at 11
a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, at the First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in
Burlington, with Revered Wesley Dunbar officiating. Burial followed at the
Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery north of Bethune. Memorials may be made
in Dorene's name to the Diabetes Association and may be left at the Bank of
Burlington in Burlington. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Love
Funeral Home in Burlington.
