Edgar Stahlecker -- 1976
Edgar John Stahlecker was born Feb. 15,
1924, to Margaret and Edward Stahlecker at the family home 12 miles northeast
of Bethune. As an infant he was baptized and later was confirmed
at Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he was a life long member, serving on
the church council and a member of the brotherhood.
During World War II he spent two years in the Army,
being stationed in Japan. The remainder of his life was spent on
the family farm.
On May 2, 1956, he was united in marriage to Jeanette
Smith. Three children were born to their union, Kerry, who is 19,
Deanna, 9 and James, 7.
Edgar passed away Dec. 19 at the Kit Carson County
Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was preceded in death by his father. He
is survived by his mother Margaret Stahlecker of Burlington, his wife,
Jeanette; two sons, Kerry and James, one daughter, Deanna; six brothers
and sisters, Lenora Weiss of Bethune, Helen Kliment of Warrenton, Ore.;
Irma Chubbuck and Wilma Maddox of Burlington, Walter Stahlecker of Arvada
and Martin Stahlecker of Golden in addition to a host of other relatives
and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Stahlecker were held
Thursday, Dec. 23, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Keith Hedstrom
officiating. Song selections, "I Know Whom I Have Believed," "Have Thine
Own Way Lord" and "The Lord's Prayer," were sung by the men's choir and
Bob Hendricks, accompanied at the piano by Karen Ziegler. Casket
bearers were Dennis Stahlecker, Chris and Pete Schlichenmayer, Gottlieb
Adolf Jr., Kermit Buol and Harold Weisshaar.
Interment was made in Fairview Cemetery.
