Lenora
Henrietta Adolf was born April 7, 1915 north of Bethune. She was the only child
of Margaret and Christian Adolf. In 1917, Margaret married Ed Stahlecker.
To this union was born 3 sons and 3 daughters.
On Saturday, March 3, 2007, Lenora went to be with her Lord and Savior. She
passed away at the Goodland Regional Medical Center in Goodland, Kan.
Lenora
was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was confirmed in the church on May
29, 1931.
On Jan. 25, 1934, Lenora was married to Otto Weiss. God blessed this union with
three children. Eilert, Aldene and Elaine. Lenora and Otto were engaged in
farming for most of her life. She also worked at Orth's Department Store for
many years in the dry goods department. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress and
homemaker. She was also very active in the community as well as her church.
Lenora and Otto lived most of their lives in the Bethune area. They also worked
a few years in the fish cannery in Sacramento, Calif. In 1993, Lenora and Otto
moved to Burlington and remained active members of First St. Paul's Lutheran
Church. Otto passed away in 1997 after a wonderful 63 years of marriage.
Lenora
moved to the Handy Towers in Goodland in 2001. In 2004, because of declining
health, she began living with her daughter Elaine and husband Jay Morrow in
their home in Good-land until the time of her death. Preceding Lenora in death
were her parents, her husband Otto Weiss,, her son Eilert Weiss in 1989, her
daughter Aldene Beringer in 2001 and a grandson Curt Beringer in 1959. She is
also preceded by one sister and three brothers.
Left to cherish Lenora's memory are her daughter Elaine Morrow and husband Jay
of Good-land, Daughter-in law Geraldine Weiss of Phoenix, Ariz., Son-in-law
Milbert Beringer of Bethune. Two sisters Irma Chubback and husband Ray of
Goodland, and Wilma Maddox and husband Glen of Burlington, sister-in-law
Jeanette Stahlecker of Burlington. She is also survived by seven grandchildren,
11 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral
services for Lenora were at 10:30 a.m., Thursday March 8, 2007 at First St.
Paul's Lutheran Church in Burlington, Pastor Jeff Hanson officiating. Visitation
was at Love Funeral Home in Burlington on Wednesday evening March 7, from 6-8
p.m. Memorials may be made in Lenora's name to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church,
Burlington and may be left at or sent to The Bank of Burlington, 410 14th
Street, Burlington, CO 80807.
