Otto Weiss -- 1997
Otto Robert Weiss was born, March 21, 1910, north
of Bethune. He was the second of five children of Godfred and Mary
Weiss. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one
sister, one son and one grandson.
On Nov. 2 he went to be with his Lord and Savior.
Otto was baptized May 5, 191 0, and confirmed on April 2, 1924, at Immanuel
Lutheran Church north of Bethune.
Otto was engaged in farming most of his life.
He managed the Burlington and Bethune Co-ops. He also served on the
Bethune school board for a number of years. He enjoyed hunting and
fishing and all other sports.
On Jan. 25, 1934, he married Lenora Adolf. To this union three
children were born: Eilert, Aldene and Elaine.
On retirement in 1993, they moved to Burlington.
Otto is survived by his wife Lenora, daughters Aldene and husband Milbert
Beringer of Bethune, Elaine and husband Jay Morrow of Goodland, Kan., daughter-in-Law,
Geraldine Weiss, 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Thursday, Nov. 6, at St. Paul
Lutheran Church with Pastor Bill Sladek officiating. Pallbearers
are Milbert and Mark Beringer, Jay and Lon Morrow, Kelly Weiss and Dr.
Wayne Hoppe. Honorary escorts are Otto's grandchildren and great-grandchildren,
family and
many loving friends and neighbors.
Musical selections "God Will Take Care of You",
"My God and I" will be sung by Greg Hallagin. Congregational hymns
are Beautiful Savior," "How Great Thou Art," the song "The Rose" will be
played for the processional and recessional.
Interment is at Fairview Cemetery with Hendricks-Love
Mortuary in charge. Memorials may be left in Otto's name of The Bank
of Burlington and First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
