Funeral services for Eilert Ronald Weiss were Monday, Jan. 16, 1989, at 1:30
p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Burlington with Pastor Norm Femrite
officiating. Song selections were One Day at a Time and In The Garden, with
Kerri Floerke being the organist and Greg Hallagin the soloist. The congregation
then sang How Great Thou Art and Children of the Heavenly Father. Casket bearers
were Grant Ziegler, Eric Ziegler, Greg Ziegler, Mark Beringer, Luane Morrow and
Alan Weiss. Honorary casket bearers were Larry Commings, Darol Hoschouer,
Willard Stahlecker, Fred Hilt Jr., Ray Chubbuck, Walter Stahlecker, Leland
Reinecker, Bill Smith, J.R. Kennon, Al Bandel, Glen Maddox, Henry Bendixen, Dr.
Larry Weiss, Kerry Stahlecker and Louie Nider. Interment was in Fairview
Cemetery in Burlington with Hendricks Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Eilert Ronald Weiss, former resident of Burlington died Jan. 12, 1989, at the
age of 54 from a brain tumor. Eilert was currently living at the Eben Ezer Home
in Brush. Eilert was born Jan. 3, 1935, to Otto and Lenora Weiss in their home
which was north of Bethune in the settlement. Eilert was baptized Feb. 17, 1935,
at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bethune. He was confirmed on April 10, 1949.
While attending Bethune High School he lettered in basketball and baseball and
graduated with honors. Shortly after high school he married Geraldine Ziegler on
July 15, 1956. They were married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Burlington.
While living in the Burlington area Eilert was active in the National Guard for
11 years and also served active duty. He had many business ventures including
farming and insurance sales. He and Geri owned and operated the Western Auto
Store and the Dairy Queen. Eilert was an active member of the Burlington Lions
Club and was involved in many church and school functions. In 1977 Eilert and
his family moved to Phoenix, Ariz. While living in Arizona he owned and operated
Geri's Gift and Cards, and was a real estate broker. Eilert and Geri returned to
Burlington every year with their jewelry business to participate in the Kit
Carson County Fair. While working, they enjoyed visiting with their many friends
in the Burlington area.
Survivors include his wife Geri; one son Kelly and his wife· Margo, their
children, Michelle and Damian; two daughters, Cindy Nider and her husband
Rolland, their children, Jonathan and Ashley; Becky Tedeschi and her husband
Mario; parents Otto and Lenora Weiss; grandmother Margaret Stahlecker; two
sisters, Aldine Beringer and her husband Milbert; Elaine Morrow and her husband
Jay; along with many other relatives and friends. |
