Gottlieb Bauder – 1960
Gottlieb Bauder, 89, a resident of the Burlington area for 71
years, died Nov. 18 in Rocky Ford, where he had been staying with his daughter.
The Rev. Don Flesner officiated at funeral services Monday afternoon, Nov. 21,
for Mr. Bauder at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Burlington. Pall bearers were
Elmer Stahlecker, Warren Bauder, Walter Bauer, Danny Bauer, Ervin Stahlecker and
Verle Billenwillms, Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.
Gottlieb Bauder, son of Andreas and Christina Bauder, was born April 5, 1871, in
South Russia and died Nov. 18 at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 13 days. He
was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, of which he had been a member
all his life. He came to America with his parents in 1889 and settled northwest
of Burlington on a homestead.
Dec. 25, 1897, he was united in marriage with Kathrine Louise Fanselau at
Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Bethune. They made their home on a homestead
northwest of Burlington until they moved to Burlington in 1947. They celebrated
their golden wedding anniversary Dec. 25, 1947. To the union were born seven
children of whom two daughters, Bertha and Emma preceded him in death. His wife
also preceded him in death in 1957. Since that time he lived in Burlington and
Rocky Ford where he was cared for by his two daughters. He was a devoted father
and always concerned about the welfare of his family. He leaves to mourn his
death five children, Walter Bauder and Mrs. Martin Bauer of Burlington, Robert
Bauder of Newberg, Ore., and Mrs. Martin Stahlecker and Herman Bauder of Rocky
Ford; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Schaal of Burlington and Mrs. Christina Ramsey of
Portland, Ore., 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and a host of other
relatives and friends. |
