Reinhard Chris Weiss-2002
Longtime Kit Carson County resident Reinhard C. (R.C.)
Weiss, age 81, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at Kit Carson County Memorial
Hospital, Burlington. Reinhard was born Aug. 19, 1920, near Bethune, to
Mary (Weis) and Gottfried Weiss. He was the youngest of five children.
He was baptized in infancy and confirmed as a youth in
the Lutheran Faith. He was a member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where
he attended regularly until he was no longer able to due to health problems.
He farmed during his younger years, and then moved to
Denver where he worked for several years. He moved back to Burlington when he
retired. When his health began to deteriorate, he moved to Burlington Care
Center, where he resided until his death. He enjoyed having visitors, and
especially enjoyed seeing his nieces and nephews.
Preceding Reinhard in death were his parents; three
brothers William, Otto and Albert; and one sister, Emma Bauder. Surviving
family members include two sisters-in-law, Lenora Weiss and Martha Weiss; and
numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Memorial services for Reinhard were held Friday, July
5, 2002, at 10 a.m. at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Burlington, with Pastor
Wesley Dunbar officiating. Private burial was held in Fairview Cemetery,
Burlington. A memorial fund is being established in Reinhard’s name to
First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and may be left at The Bank of Burlington.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Love Funeral Home, Burlington.
