Walter Bauder -- 1985
Final rites for Walter
Gottlieb Bauder were Wednesday, July 17, 1985, at 10:30 am in the United
Methodist Church in Burlington with Rev. Neil Warner officiating.
Song selections were "What
a Friend We Have in Jesus", "How Great Thou Art", and "Amazing Grace".
The organist was Billie Hinkhouse. Singers were the Methodist choir
and the congregation. Casket bearers were Weldon Vance, Doren Whitmore,
Herman Adolf, Terry Gay, Kenneth Bishop, Kermit Buol. Honorary casket
bearers were A. J. (Tony) Consbruck, Leland Reinecker, Williard Gross,
Alfred Low, George Wiedman, Herman Simpson. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery
in Burlington with Hendricks Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Walter Gottlieb Bauder,
son of Gottlieb and Katherine Bauder, was born June 24, 1900, in Kit Carson
County, northwest of Burlington. Walter passed away July 14, 1985,
at the age of 85.
He was baptized and confirmed
in the Immanuel Lutheran Church as a youth. Walter married Sally
(Gertrude Louise) Church on June 7, 1927 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1977.
To the union were born two
sons, Don and Warren. They lived on a farm 10 miles northwest of
Burlington, until they moved to Burlington in 1935 and have lived there
ever since.
Walter worked at and managed
the Equity Co-op until 1947. Then he worked in construction until
he retired in 1966. In retirement Walt and Sally loved to travel.
Walt was active in the community
and was a member of the Rotary Club for many years. He faithfully
worked in his church and sang in the choir many years.
He is preceded in death
by his parents, one sister and one brother.
Walter is survived by his
wife, Sally; two sons, Donald and wife Shirley of Albuquerque, N.M., and
Warren and wife Wanda of Colorado Springs; two sisters, Anna Bauer of Burlington,
Freda Stahlecker of Wichita, Kan.; and one brother, Robert, of Newberg,
Ore.; and also 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
