Gottlob Emanuel (G.E.) SCHAAL-1987

GOTTLOB EMANUEL SCHAAL was born May 10, 1906 north of Bethune to Christian parents, Matthew and Eva (Baltzer) Schaal. He was the youngest of the family of 8 children. He was baptized May 30, 1906 and brought up in the Christian faith, was confirmed ~1ay 30, 1920 in the faith of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour [sic]. He was a member of Hope United Church of Christ all of his life. He was active in his church duties, was Sunday School teacher in the German language for many years and held other offices in the church. He loved his church and its teachings.

On November 12, 1928 he was married to Pauline Reid of Greeley, Colorado. The couple made their home on the farm northwest of Burlington until 1952. The family moved to town where they built their new home. He was self employed, and built a number of houses that they used as rental property. He enjoyed his work very much, and was always ready to give a helping hand where needed.

To this family was born four children, Daniel Richard, Virginia Weiss, Clarence Victor and Ann Chalfant of Scottsdale, Arizona. There are also 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren besides a host of relatives and friends.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His biggest concern was the salvation of his family and prayed for them daily.

He passed away quietly at Kit Carson County Hospital after a two month battle with cancer. He went to be with the Lord June 26, 1987 at 5:30 PM.
