        William Daniel Adolf, age 77, passed away Saturday, March 15, 1980 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital in Burlington.    Services were held on Wednesday, March 19, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Burlington.  Officiating was Rev. Aaron Nutter.  Song selections were "Old Rugged Cross", "How Great Thou Art" and "Shall We Gather at the River". Organist was Judy Rainbolt and soloist was Bob Churchwell.  The grandsons were casket bearers.  Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Burlington. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Burlington.
       He was born Dec. 15, 1902 to Andrew and Margret Schlichenmayer Adolf at Yale, Kit Carson County, Colo.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church.  He received his education and grew to manhood in the Bethune area.  On Aug. 6, 1950, he was united in marriage with Helen Louise Thomas Smelser in Stratton.  To this union four children were born.  Bill farmed for many years before retiring in Burlington.  He enjoyed the outdoor life and hunting was his favorite past time. On Sept. 26, 1964, he was united in marriage to Ola J. Bowker.  He was proud of his family and enjoyed very much visiting with friends and neighbors. 
       Bill was in good health up to the last three months.  In February 1980 he entered the Grace Manor Nursing home in Burlington.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ola, 1977, his parents, an infant brother, a brother John in 1974 an infant son, John Andrew in 1957. 
        Those surviving to mourn his passing are his three children:  Darrel of Akron; Connie Cluff of Brush; and Dennis of Yuma.  Also surviving are 14 step-children:  Shirley Hughes of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Charles Smelser of Fort Morgan; Marjie Hottinger of Akron; Lloyd Dean of Wichita, Kan.; Era Rice of Olathe; Jewel Carter of Kim; Art Dean of Denver; Margie Albers of Goodland, Kan.; Juanita Fell of Colby, Kan.; Farris Dean of Arroya Grande, Calif.; Leta V. Best of Des Moines, Iowa; Eileen Kraycia of Goodland, Kan.; Edith Ashwroth of Florence, Ken.; Gerald Dean of Monte Vista; 54 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; four brothers- Jake and Emmanual Adolf of Sterling; Fred of Akron; and David of Burlington; 3 sisters - Freida Gramm and Martha Weiss of Burlington; and Carrie Galli of Brewster, Kan.   Bill will be sadly missed by his family, relatives and friends.
