Tom Hendricks
George Thomas (Tom) Hendricks was born September 24, 1936, the youngest child of William and Mary (Wilson) Hendricks. Tom departed this life November 18, 2005 at the age of 69. He was born and raised in Burlington, Colorado and spent most of his life there. He attended grade school in Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School in 1954.

After graduation he attended Colorado State University for about one year. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1955 and was in service until 1958. In July of 1957 he married Darlene Ziegler of Bethune, Colorado. They resided in Idaho until he was discharged from the Air Force and they returned to Colorado. To this union were born two children, Tryn and Todd. Tom held various jobs through the years in different locations through out Colorado. He eventually returned to Burlington in the early 80’s to continue his venture in farming and sales related occupation. Because of health related problems Tom spent the later years of his life in the company of his family and friends. He took up a hobby in the study of the genealogy of the Hendricks family which took many years to compete and archive. Through the years he was fond of joining his friends for a cup of coffee and the topic for the day. One of his friends became a deer and close companion, Norma Keeler and her family. Tom spent many of his remaining years devoting his time and care for Norma in helping her though a hoped recovery until her passing this past year. These last remaining years have brought much fulfillment for Tom with the return of his son Todd and family to the Burlington area, he was able to enjoy the company of his grandchildren and attend sporting events for them and his brother’s grandchildren as well. He also enjoyed his visits to his daughter Tryn in Littleton, Colorado and he got to take his first trip outside of the United States to visit his sister Dixie in Zacatecas, Mexico which he very much enjoyed.

Tom is survived by his brother Bob Hendricks and wife Bonnie of Burlington, Colorado, brother Joe Hendricks and his wife Pat of Livermore, Colorado, sister Dr. Dixie Sullivan of Zacatecas, Mexico. Also surviving are his daughter Tryn Hendricks of Littleton, Colorado, his son Todd and wife Kelli of Burlington, Colorado and his grandchildren Emily, Adily and Luke Hendricks of Burlington.

We will all miss seeing that slow red pickup down the streets of Burlington, his daily visit to what he fondly called the Liar’s Club/Burger King. Tom had a warm and friendly way of not letting anyone go by without saying Hi! We will all miss him very much.

Funeral services for Tom will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday November 23, 2005 at the Love Funeral Home in Burlington, Colorado. With Pastor Bill Viergutz officiating.

Visitation for Tom will be Tuesday November 22 at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A memorial fund is being established in his name at the First National Bank in Burlington and is named to the American Heart Association.
