Alvina Guy - 2006
Alvina Christena Guy, 79, passed away suddenly on
January 12, 2006, while working with friends on quilts for Lutheran World
Relief. She was born on June 18, 1926 in Hildreth, Nebraska to Jakob
and Imkea (Westerbuhr) Weisshaar and baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church,
Hildreth. When she was four, the family moved to the Settlement Area, north of
Bethune. She was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bethune in May, 1942.
Alvina married David J. Guy on December 9, 1945
at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bethune, Colorado. After his tour with the Navy
was completed in May, 1946, they settled on the farm north of Bethune. To this
union three children were born; Jerry, Grant and Linda. In 1968, they left the
farm to follow road construction until David retired in 1985. They chose to
return to the farm to stay close to family and friends. She is preceded in death
by her parents.
She is survived by her loving husband, David;
three children, Jerry Guy and wife June of Seibert, Colorado, Grant Guy and wife
Rhonda of Kersey, Colorado, and Linda Rau and husband Tom of Collbran, Colorado.
She is also survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, Joe Rau
and son Steven Magnuson, John and Rene Guy and children, Jeri Rose and Jakob,
David Guy, Megan and David Underwood and children Mackinzie and D’artagnan,
and Sam Trujillo. She is also survived by two brothers Lee Weisshaar and Harold
and wife Esther of Burlington, Colorado.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 16,
2006, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bethune, with Pastor Carl Rogers
officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials
may be made in Alvina's name to Immanuel Lutheran Church and may be left at the
funeral home, 377 15th St. Burlington. . |
