Obituary

Esther Laurene (Adolf) Weisshaar, 83, passed away at home July 1, 2013

She was born December 17, 1929, the second of four children born to John and Martha (Stahlecker) Adolf. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Esther grew up in the Settlement Area north of Bethune. She attended country school through the eighth grade.

On December 30, 1948 she married Harold Weisshaar at Immanuel. They resided in the town of Burlington until 1962, when they moved to the family farm north of Burlington. To this union five children were born. Esther was still living on the farm at the time of her death.

Esther was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church her entire life and a devoted member of the women's group. She enjoyed working with her hands: embroidering with “Club”, tending to the garden and flowers, making noodles and cinnamon rolls and piecing quilts. Esther's grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents, John and Martha Adolf; mother and father-in-law, Jake and Carrie Weisshaar; brother-in-law, Lee Weisshaar and sister-in-laws, Lois Adolf, Leona Weisshaar and Alvina Guy.

Those remaining to celebrate her life are 5 children: Duane Weisshaar of Sioux Falls, SD, Donita (Darryl) Harvey of Aurora, Janet (Michael) Willis of Greeley, Kent (Connie) Weisshaar and Joyce (James) Lightle of Burlington. Six grandchildren: Jamie Lightle, Jake (Breanna) Lightle, Jason Harvey, Amber (Derek) Vaughn, April Weisshaar, and Andrea Weisshaar.
