Ruth (Goebel) Bauder - 2002
Lifelong Kit Carson County resident Ruth Irene Bauder passed
away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Brookside Inn Care facility in Castle Rock. She
would have celebrated her 94th birthday on Dec. 6.
Ruth was born Dec. 6, 1908, to Henry and Mary (Chandler) Goebel. Her birthplace
was in the family home at the Spring Valley Ranch north of Burlington. At that
time her father Henry was the ranch foreman. She attended country schools in the
area north of Burlington.
Ruth was united in marriage in 1927 to Carl John Bauder. To this union one child
was born, Shirley Jean (Bauder) Mangus.
Ruth was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and past member of the Rebekah
Lodge.
Over the years, she exhibited her talents as a seamstress, making many formal
gowns and helping many young girls with their sewing skills. There were always
quilts being made, sweaters to knot, doilies to crochet and all kinds of crafts
to keep her busy. At one point she took up china painting, creating many
beautiful pieces to the delight of family and friends. She was a wonderful cook,
whether for family, friends or the school lunch program.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Carl; her parents, 11 of her sisters
and brothers; and son-in-law Dale Mangus.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Shirley: three grandsons - Larry and Debbie,
Stan, Tony and Tammy; 10 great-grandchildren - Lori and Keith Schwendeman,
Michael and Audra Mangus, Jennifer and Ross Butchart, Chelle and Jerome Merlau,
Caela Meyers,, Drew Mangus, Brock Mangus, Sarah Mangus, Trinda Mangus, and Cody
Mangus; 5 great-great-grandchildren - Dillon and Cole Schwendeman, Meghan
Kroshel, Kaylee Mangus, and Emily Merilau; one sister, Francis Brener; and many
nieces and nephews.
Services for Ruth were held on Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at the First
Christian Church. Pastor Wes Dunbar, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiated
services and burial followed at Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her great-grandsons - Michael, Drew, Brock, Cody, Keith and
Ross.
Memorials may be made in Ruth's name to the St. Paul Lutheran Church and may be
left at The Bank of Burlington. |
