Verlin Corliss - 1993
Funeral services for Verlin Dean Corliss were Tuesday, June
29, 1993, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hope Congregational Church in Bethune with Rev.
Ted Meter officiating. Musical selections, by the congregation, were What a
Friends We Have In Jesus and Wonderful Words of Life. The organist for the
service was Velda Adolf. Casket bearers were Doyle Adolf, James Dobler,
Jerry Hasart, Tom Schlichenmayer, Roy Schlichenmayer and Eugene Weiss.
Honorary escorts were all of his cousins and friends. interment was in the
Hope Cemetery in Bethune with Hendricks-Love Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Hope Congregational Church, 40981 County Rd. GG,
Bethune. Verlin Corliss, as known by his family, friends
and God, was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour [sic] Jesus Christ on
Thursday, June 24, 1993. God in His providence ushered Verlin with angelic
escort to His glory above to complete the salvation plan through Christ.
Verlin was born Aug 3, 1955, as God's gift to Esther and
Mervin Corliss of Stratton. He was raised on the farm with activity in 4-H and
eventually he began his vocation as an area farmer. He attended the
Bethune School and graduated in 1973. Verlin's interests were in wood
working and leather crafting. He was active in farming and cattle
interests at the end of his life. As a member of Hope Congregational
Church, Verlin was active in the youth group and sang in the men's choir.
He was presently a trustee on the church board. He was baptized, confirmed and
married at Hope Congregational Church. Verlin and Rhonda (Davis) Corliss
were married Dec. 14, 1984. The Lord blessed this holy union with three
children. He was active in the life of the church and encouraged his
family in the same. Those left to mourn his home going
are his dear wife Rhonda, two daughters, Krista and Stephanie, one son, Wade,
parents Esther and Mervin Corliss and one sister and brother-in-law, Nadine and
Daryn Klassen and their children, John and Kaylee. Others left to mourn
are Ella and Dale Davis and family including Lee and Judy Davis and family,
Glenn and Andrea Davis and family, Kent and Rhonda Davis and children, Rodney
and Pat Davis and daughter Valerie and Gary Price and children,
step-grandmother, Rubbie Corliss and many relatives and friends. He was
preceded in death by grandparents, Gottlieb and Lydia Gramm, grandparents,
Sherman and Grace Corliss and brother-in-law, Lynn Davis. |
