Lifelong Kit Carson County resident Amanda Helena Richards
passed away on January 16, 2006 at the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital. She
was 90 years old.
Amanda was born on February 20, 1925 to August and Mary
(Weisshaar) Adolf. She was one of eight children. Amanda attended school in the
Bethune School District where she graduated from the twelfth grade.
On September 6, 1933, Amanda married David A. Richards in
Burlington, Colorado. To this union four children were born; Esther, Duaine,
Donna Kay and Mary.
Amanda spent many years of her life as a cook for the Bethune
High School. She was a member of the First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and RSVP.
She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one
daughter Donna Kay Powell, two sisters Hilda Ziegler and Gladys Patterson, one
brother Art Adolf and one great grandson Jeremy Richards.
Amanda is survived by her three children Esther Young of
Burlington, Duaine Richards and his wife Ardith of Palmer, Alaska and Mary
Colglazier and her husband Fred of Burlington. She is also survived by nine
grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren;
three sisters, Leona Hefner and her husband Harry of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Della
Pugh and her husband Robert of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Eva Wood and her
husband Edward of Yuma, Colorado; one brother Allan Adolf of Bethune, Colorado
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Richards were held on Friday,
January 20, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in
Burlington with Pastor Jeff Hanson officiating. Burial followed in the Immanuel
Lutheran Cemetery north of Bethune. Visitation was held one hour prior to
services at the church on Friday.
Memorials may be made in Amanda’s name to the First St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church or to the Donor’s Choice and may be left at the Bank of
Burlington, Burlington, Colorado. |
