Family and friends celebrated the life
of Donna Kay Powell, 62, on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, 10:30 a.m., at Bethune
School. Father Greg Adolf and Pastor Wesley Dunbar officiated. Praise music was beautifully provided
by Willie Sharp and The Group. Casket bearers were brothers-in-law
Fred Colglazier and Bob Young, nephews Kirby and Stan Powell, and special
friends, James Foos and James Poole. Honorary pall bearers were grandchildren-
Kellee and Kash Mangus, Shawn and KayCee Powell, Dustin and Derek Eley. Donna Kay was laid to rest in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery north of Bethune.
Donna Kay was born to David and Amanda
Richards on Nov. 14, 1938. She attended and graduated from Bethune Schools. She was united in marriage to Lester
Powell on May 25, 1956. To this union two children were born - Shelly Powell
Mangus and Scott Powell. Donna Kay was a faithful servant of God
and enjoyed sharing His love with everyone. She loved the outdoors and shepherding
her sheep. Agriculture, livestock, and being a bean broker at Burlington
Marketing were the great joys of her life. "Nana" was totally devoted to
her grandchildren. She traveled many miles to school programs, ball games,
rodeos, fun trips, and love-bonding weekends!
"Daddy" David Richards
preceded her in death. Survivors include her mother Amanda
Richards of Burlington; children Shelly and husband Kenny Mangus of Anadarko,
Okla., Scott and wife April Powell of Palmer, Alaska; beloved friends Kathy
Powell of Crowell, Texas, Manuel Flores of Bethune, brother Duaine Richards and
wife Ardith of Palmer, Alaska, sister Esther Young and husband Bob of
Burlington, sister Mary Colglazier and husband Fred of Burlington. She is also lovingly missed by nieces,
nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephew.
Memorial gifts may be given in Donna
Kay's memory to the Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital/Nursing Association and
the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Fund at The Bank of Burlington. |
