Lydia Stahlecker Weisshaar -- 1970
Funeral services were held Nov.
9 for Mrs. Lydia Weisshaar at Zion Lutheran Church in Newberg, Ore. Pastor
Edwin E. Sandvig officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Stanley
Gaiblei, Douglas Gaibler, David Remillard, Ronald Bauder, Richard Schaal and
Gary Schaal. Mrs. Lydia Weisshaar was born Aug. 8, 1889 in Tripp,
S.D., to Martin Stahlecker and his wife, Katherina. As a child she moved
with her family to Bethune where she grew up. She was baptized as a child
and on Feb. 8, 1903 she was confirmed in Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Bethune. Dec. 26, 1911 she was married to John Weisshaar
in Bethune where they made their home on a farm until May, 1935 when the family
moved to Newberg, Ore. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1967. The past 19 months Mrs. Weisshaar has made her home with
her daughter and son-in-law, Frieda and Robert Bauder in Newberg.
Mrs. Weisshaar died in the Newburg hospital on Thursday, Nov. 5. There are eight children surviving: 2 sons, Bernard of
McMinnville and Ruben of Newberg; 6 daughters, Frieda Bauder and
Martha Gaibler of Newberg, Erna Schaal of Burlington, Anna Hendricks of
Sheridan, Ore., Alvina Schaal of Yakima, Wash., and Ruthena Reu of North
Bend, Ore.; 1 daughter, Emma, died at the age of two weeks. Also
surviving are 35 grandchildren, 25 great grand-children, 1 sister, Barbara
Adolf of Burlington and many nephews and nieces. Mrs. Erna Schaal
returned Nov. 9 from Oregon where she attended the funeral. |
