Edward Stahlecker -- 1962
Finial rites for Edward Stahlecker, 74, of Burlington
were held Wednesday, June 6, at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church
with Pastor Herbert J. Schauer officiating.
Mr. Stahlecker passed away June 2 at the St. Joseph's
Hospital in Denver where he had undergone surgery.
A floral service was conducted Wednesday morning at 11
at the Hendricks Mortuary. Pall bearers were Robert Stahlecker, William
Stahlecker, Ralph Stahlecker, Pete Schlichenmayer, George Wiedman and Harold
Weisshaar. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery in Burlington.

Juengling Stahlecker was born Nov. 4, 1887, at Tripp, S. D. He was baptized
as a child.
In 1893 he moved with his family to the Settlement
north of Bethune. Here the Stahleckers became active members, of
Immanuel Lutheran Church. Church and home cooperated to give Mr.
Stahlecker his basic Christian training. As a youth he was confirmed
in the Lutheran faith in Immanuel Lutheran Church.
On Sept. 30, 1917, he was united in marriage with
Mrs. Margaret Adolf nee Weisshaar. To this union were born three
sons and three daughters.
Mr. Stahlecker was engaged in farming. In 1956 he retired from the
farm and, moved to Burlington. Ties with his home church were so
strong that even after retiring to Burlington he remained a member of Immanuel
Lutheran Church. He served his church many ways, among them for nearly
40 years he served his church as organist and for 20 years as janitor.
Mr. Stahlecker was admitted to the Burlington hospital May 19. On
May 21 he was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver where he submitted
to surgery. For a time it appeared that he would recover, but suddenly
his strength began to wane. He passed away June 2 at 6 p-m. at the
age of 74 years, 6 months and 2 days.
Among the survivors are his wife, Margaret; his stepdaughter.
Mrs. Lenora Weiss, Bethune; his children, Walter Stahlecker of Denver,
Mrs. Helen Johnson of Casper, Wyo.; Edgar Stahlecker of Bethune, Martin
Stahlecker of Golden, Mrs. Irma Scott of Denver and Mrs. Wilma Maddox of
Burlington; two sisters, Barbara, now Mrs. Gottlieb Adoph of Burlington,
and Lydia, now (Mrs. John Weisshaar of Newburg Ore.; one brother,
Fred Stahlecker of Burlington; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren,
and many other relatives and friends. |
