Theresa Hooker-1978

Theresa Lydia Hooker was born Sept. 9, 1909, at Bethune, Colo., to Andrew and Beata Bauer. She passed away on Thursday, Dec. 14, 1978, at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver after an extended illness.

She was married to Truman Leon Hooker, Sr. on Dec. 10, 1931, in Independence, Mo. To this union were added Shirleyanne Beata Hooker of Aurora; Rilla Viola Hooker Koehn, husband Bob and children Steve, Mike and Don of Arriba; Truman Leon, Jr., wife Janice and children Scott, Brenda and Karen of rural Kanorado; and Phillip Vern, wife Dixie and children Chet and Chad of Kanorado, all of whom survive. She is also survived by one brother, Ed Bauer of Denver; two sisters, Anne Hayes of San Jose, Calif., and Matilda Mitchell of Lavern, Calif. There is also a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and three sisters.

Theresa was baptized and joined the church at an early age; uniting in the Lutheran faith at Bethune. Most of her childhood and adult life was spent in the Arriba and Burlington areas of Colorado.

Theresa was very active in community and church affairs. For many years she was a 4-H leader. She was a member of the Happy Hours Home Club, the United Methodist Women, and the Kanorado United Methodist Church.

The memorial service was held on Monday, Dec. 18, 1978, from the United Methodist Church in Kanorado, with the Rev. Donald Snyder officiating. The Rev. King David, Minneapolis, Kan., sang "One Day At A Time," "How Great Thou Are," and "He Touched Me." Music was played by Mrs. Lee Schlichenmayer of Kanorado.

Casket bearers were: Neil Wall, Denver; Phillip Merz, Denver; Vernon Stude, Arriba; Lee Schlichenmayer, Kanorado; Jim Fri__, and Henry (Bud) Nagel, Kanorado.

Honorary casket bearers were: Homer Winn, Orvine Kitchen, Martin Felsein, Cleo Besson, Orvel Aeschlimann and _____.
