Obituary

--

BUHL — Lillian Hanna Schaal Stahlecker, age 89, of Buhl, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 23, 2011.

Lillian was born March 21, 1922, to John M. and Anna Sack Schaal on a farm north of Bethune, Colo. She was baptized in the Hope Congregational Church. The family lived in Bethune until May of 1935, when they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, later moving into the Buhl and Filer area.

She married Jake Stahlecker on July 29, 1943, in Paul, Idaho, while he was on furlough from the Army. They were married for 61 years. They lived in Stratton, Colo., where all three of her children were born. In 1954, they moved to Castleford where they lived for 47 years. Her greatest love was husband, Jake; and her children, Sharon, Wayne and Howard.

Lillian was a longtime member of the Castleford Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Castleford Grandmothers Club, Castleford Flower Companions Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Her hobbies were sewing, gardening and cooking for her family. She also loved playing cards.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon (Jack) Power of Las Vegas, Nev.; sons, Wayne (Linda) Stahlecker of Buhl and Howard (Selena) Stahlecker of Castleford; grandchildren, John, Lynette, Gary, Mike, Chris and Amy; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy (Carl) Kerner of Shoshone; and sisters-in-law, Helen Schaal of Twin Falls and Frieda Schlichenmayer of Burlington, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake; her parents; and brothers, Robert, Arthur, Albert, LaVern; and sister-in-law, Evelyn.

We will always remember how Mom and Dad would hold hands while they were walking. So it is now as it should be — walking hand in hand together again.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buhl or Castleford QRU’s, or a charity of your choice.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at the Buhl Methodist Church. Farmer Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
