Freida (Weisshaar) Bauder-2009

Frieda Johanna Bauder was first-born child of John F. and Lydia (Stahlecker) Weisshaar on Thursday, Dec. 5, 1911 in Bethune. She grew up and attended schools in Bethune and on March 8, 1934 was married to Robert H. Bauder.  They went to Oregon in 1935 to make their home in Newberg.  They have been members of Zion Lutheran Church in Newberg for many years. Robert preceded her in death on July 19, 1995.
Frieda's days were always busy. She was self-employed as a seamstress and volunteered at the Thrift Store for many years. She was active in her church where she was often referred to as "church mother" because she was mother and grandmother to many. She loved to cook, garden and participate in the lifer of her family. She never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. On Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, Frieda Johanna Bauder died at her home at 96 years, 2 months and 3 days of age.
Surviving and left to honor her life are three children, Ronald R. Bauder (Shirley) of Tillamook, Ore., Luella M. Colling (Gorman) of Sammamish, Wash., and Mary Jo Groff (John) of Newberg, Ore., three sisters, Martha Gaibler of Newberg, Ore., Erna Schaal Bohling of Burlington, and Ruthena Reu of Salem, Ore.; two sisters-in-law, Clarice Weisshaar of Canby, Ore. and Florence Oberg of Wilsonville, Ore., brother-in-law, Melvin Schaal of Vancouver, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and those who have come to know and appreciate her as she has lived and worked in their community.  Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Ben and Ruben; and sisters, Emma, Anna Remillard Hendricks and Alvina Schaal.
