Lydia Smithke [Schmidke] Weiss  --  1936

    Lydia Weiss, wife of Martin Weiss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Smithke, was born in Russia, Oct. 7, 1883 [may be 1890].  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church.  She came to America in 1892.  On March 16, 1911, she was married to Martin Weiss who bemourns her departure.  To this union eight children were born, who all survive the mother.  On June 24 she took seriously ill., She was taken to the Goodland hospital, but died on June 29, at 4:50 p. m. Her age is 46 years, 8 months and 12 days.

    Funeral service was held Wednesday July 1st, at the Lutheran church, Settlement, at 2:00 p. m., conducted by Rev.  Woelber. We extend sympathy to the sorrowing family relatives and friends.
