Blanche Beckstrom -2005

Lifelong Kit Carson County resident Blanche I. Beekstrom passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005 , at Grace Manor Care Center. She was 80 years old.
Blanche was born on April 30; 1924 in Stratton to Frank H. and Bernice (Brown) Stolz. She was one of four children. Blanche graduated from high school in Bethune. She then went on to attend business school in Denver for two years.
On Sept. 3, 1944, Blanche married Carl W. Beckstrom at the Lowry Air Force Base in Denver. To this union one son Vernon was born.
Blanche worked for about 61 years of her life as a secretary in and around Burlington. Her first job was working for Thomas and Thomas Law Office, which she did for many years.
She also had a job at Farm Credit, and then worked for Sandra Berry at the Kit Carson County Treasurer's office.
Along with working the many hours that she did, she was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary, and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Blanche is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Carl.  She is survived by her son Vernon Beckstrom and wife Nancy of Dalhart, Texas and two grandchildren Cody and Tyler Beckstrom.
She is also survived by two brothers; William (Bud) Stolz and wife Gladys of Burlington, Henry Stolz and wife Amelia of Lee Summit, Mo.; one sister Esther Schlichenmayer of Wray, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Blanche were held on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Love Funeral Home in Burlington, with Pastor Roger Millheim officiating.
Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery in Burlington. Visitation was held on Friday, Feb. 18, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Love Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in Blanche's name to the Immanuel Lutheran Church and may be left at Equitable Savings and Loan, 1420 Lowell Ave.; P.O. Box 697, in Burlington, CO 80807.
