Beer Suggestions
There are a number of great German beers available in the area. Beertopia Beer Emporium at 36th & Farnam is a good place to find a large selection. Generally HefeWeizen beers (wheat beers) or Dunkle (dark beers) are traditional.
Wine Suggestions
White Riesling Wines are very populare at Oktoberfest. There are many great sweet and semi-sweet wines from the Mosel and Rheingau wine regions of Germany available in area stores. There are also a number of American and Australian Rieslings that are available.
Paulaner Hefe-Weizen Beer
High in effervescence and low in calories, with a crisp, refreshing fruity flavor. Often served with a lemon garnish. A summer bier at its finest.

Premium German Wines:

König Ludwig Weissbier
http://www.koenig-ludwig.com/

The world-wide fame of Bavarian beer is directly attributable to the House of Wittelsbach, the family of His Royal Highness Prince Luitpold of Bavaria.

It was in 1516 that Duke Wilhelm IV issued the Bavarian Reinheitsgebot or Purity Law - which is still valid today. Prince Luitpold is thus continuing a long-standing family tradition.

200 years of experience gained through the wheat beer monopoly held by the Wittelsbach family also means that König Ludwig Weissbier is truly a "Beer of Royal Highness".

The König Ludwig Schlossbrauerei Kaltenberg today feels more than ever connected to this centuries-long tradition - and brews its four varieties of König Ludwig Weissbier - Hefe Weissbier in both Hell and Dunkel types and Light and Kristall sorts - with the greatest possible care.

Erdinger Beer
It is brewed using fine yeast to a traditional recipe and, of course, produced strictly in accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law. Even today, the beer is still bottle-fermented in traditional style; it takes three to four weeks for ERDINGER Weissbier 'with fine yeast' to mature.

Warsteiner Beer
Classic German Pilsener. The malt for our beer is manufactured from top-quality brewing barley cultivated from well-known German producing regions and from Champagne, which enjoy optimal climatic and soil conditions. The light golden yellow color of WARSTEINER Premium Verum beer is obtained thanks to none other than the finest ingredients and an especially gentle, careful brewing process. Another top-quality attribute is the original and especially soft brewing water. This is obtained from the Kaiserquelle, among other sources.
