Poppy Seed Cake
3/4 cup ground poppy seed
1 cup milk
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
4 egg whites
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
dash of salt
Mix poppy seed and milk and let stand 1/2 hour. Cream butter and sugar together. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk-poppy seed mixture. Fold in egg whites.

Filling:

1 cup milk
4 egg yolks
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
Making filling, cool and use between layers/ Frost with butter icing.
