Baking Mix

8- 1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup baking powder
1 tablespoon salt
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 tablespoon baking soda
1- 1/2 cup powdered milk
2- 1/2 cups shortening

In large bowl, blend together dry ingredients.  Cut in shortening.  Mixture will resemble cornmeal.  Store in cool, dry place.  Makes 13 cups.  Use in recipes calling for Bisquick®.

To make pancakes: Use 1 egg, 1 1/4 cup milk and 2 cups Mix.

Baking Mix III

10 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
4 teaspooon
salt
2 cup vegetable shortening

Combine all ingredients except shortening in large bowl. With pastry blender cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Store in airtight container, up to 6 months. Use as you would any other baking mix. Makes 12 1/2 cups.
