cup honey
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
Grated rind and juice of 1 lemon
1 teaspoon almond flavoring
1/2 teaspoon rosewater
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon soda (mix with the flour)
3 cups flour
1 1/2 cups mixed citrus (orange & lemon peel)
1 1/2 cups blanched almonds
Grind fruit peel and almonds. Bring honey, butter and
sugar to a boil. Add other ingredients while quite warm. Chill over night
or several days. Roll 1/8 inch think and bake in moderate oven. (325°F
15-20 minutes.)
While warm, glaze with powdered sugar mixed with enough hot water to
make a very thin mixture. Flavor with almond and rosewater. Ripen at least
a week before using.

Mildred, with the notation, "Christmas cookies made by great
grandmother Rasley, also made by her grandmother. The Swiss "i"
is pronounced as though it were an E."
